Pediatrics

- The Department of Pediatrics and Newborns at Al-Ahrar Teaching Hospital provides many individual services in Sharkia Governorate, through:

- General and specialized outpatient clinics daily, including the general pediatric clinic, the echo clinic, pediatric cardiology and the highly equipped diabetes clinic, established in cooperation with the Diabetes Institute team

- The internal department includes many units, such as the general pediatric unit, which contains 33 beds

- Intensive care unit at the highest level with a capacity of 11 beds, equipped with monitors, respirators, and all care needs, and it is managed in cooperation with a university scientific supervisor and a group of the best intensive care specialists in the East

 - Newborn and premature infants unit, which contains incubators, the latest respirators, choleretic treatment devices, etc., under the supervision of a university professor, scientific colleague, and many consultants and specialists

- Participation in the national project for hereditary diseases and food metabolism and the origin of cases according to the national program designated for that.

 - The Pediatric Echo Unit, and the Pediatric Heart Unit is being completed and the Congenital Defects Unit is being formed in cooperation with the Heart and Catheterization Department in the hospital and the Heart Institute team to provide a distinct and important service for pediatric heart patients in Sharqia

- Participation in the diagnosis and processing of cases of the Pediatric Surgery Department and the allocation of a number of beds for post-surgery children in the nursery and intensive care.

- Preparing the Pediatric Nephrology Unit in coordination with Mansoura University and preparing trained cadres at the highest level in the specialty of Pediatric Nephrology.

- The department, in partnership with the hospital’s internal medicine department, has been working in the sorting and isolation units for Covid 19 since the start of the pandemic in March 2020 until now.

- The department trains Egyptian fellowship doctors in the specialties of general pediatrics, intensive care and neonatology, as the department includes many certified trainers who hold a Harvard T2T fellowship.
